UN Volunteers / International Red Cross Survey on the role of volunteering

Five years after the adoption of the SDGs, development and humanitarian actors are taking stock and exploring how progress can be accelerated to achieve targets over the next decade. As part of these efforts, the Plan of Action to Integrate Volunteering in the 2030 Agenda (click for more info) will bring together global knowledge on citizen action at a Global Technical Meeting in July 2020 (GTM2020) with the theme, ‘Reimagining Volunteering’. The GTM2020 is organised as a special event on the margins of the 2020 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) by the UNV in conjunction with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). This is a collaborative effort among volunteering stakeholders and the UN system to provide a platform to advance the debate on volunteering and identify how volunteering can accelerate the achievement of the SDGs, particularly with regards to complex challenges like climate change and inequalities which can disproportionately affect young people.

As a part of the objectives, the UNV is gathering evidence in the run up to the GTM2020 via a global survey on volunteering, and a call for good practices.

If you would like to share your thoughts/provide feedback/get involved in discussions around volunteering and SDGs, leading up to and beyond the GTM, please join the UNV-MGCY focus group by filling out this form.
