UN DESA is seeking inputs from us on this. in accordance with resolution E/CN.5/2019/L.3 entitled “Policies and programmes involving youth” which requested a comprehensive report on the implementation of the resolution including progress on the achievements and challenges in the implementation of the World Programme of Action for Youth including linkages to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
So please fill the survey and distribute the survey among your networks and members:
There is a special focus on recent data gathered since the onset of COVID-19 so that this report captures the impacts of the pandemic on youth development.
UN DESA has identified three thematic focus areas for the report. They are:
Youth Poverty Alleviation
Youth poverty data (extreme poverty of $1.25 or less and poverty in all its dimensions according to national definitions), and data around food insecurity, disaggregated by gender, age, education, employment and geography. As well as policies and programmes to reduce youth poverty at sub-national, national or international levels (including development assistance).
Consultations or other structures in which young people were meaningfully engaged in the design and implementation of social protection policies.
Digital Global Economy and Youth
Youth employment and income data, disaggregated by gender, age, education, industry and geography
Education, fiscal, innovation, investment, labour, trade, or other policies and programmes to manage the effects of globalization and technological transformation; and initiatives that enabled co-creation and partnerships between government and young people to generate employment, entrepreneurship or other opportunities for youth.
Juvenile Justice and Youth & the Law
Data around youth detained or incarcerated under criminal, civil or administrative measures, disaggregated by gender, age, ethnicity, type of office and type of detention.
Efforts taken to build trust between youth and relevant authorities, including law enforcement, and other measures that prevent violence; and policy alternatives to detention that enable rehabilitation and reintegration of youth, and their efficacy in prevention of crimes and reduction in recidivism.
Additionally, we are also working with UN DESA to develop webinars on these topics. We will keep you updated as the process moves forward.
