Youth shaping the Climate Pact: showcasing successful Youth engagement initiatives
Following the official launch of the European Climate Pact by the European Commission on 16 December, SDG7 Youth Constituency (SDG7 YC) and European Youth Energy Network (EYEN) organised an event, “Youth Shaping the Climate Pact” that attracted 100 participants from more than 30 countries.
The event was graced by a variety of youthful speakers that included Michal Nekvasil from DG CLIMA, Benjamin Strzelecki of SDG7 YC, and EYEN’s Luciana Miu. The event was also panelled by Helen Watts of Student Energy, Helena Nepp of the European Youth Parliament, and Marco Costa from CommUnity by InnoEnergy.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss on “Gaps and opportunities for youth engagement” during the breakout sessions. The results of their discussion were presented to the Director-General of the European Commission - DG ENER Ditte Juul Jørgensen. Do look out for the policy paper that EYEN will draft, that outlines the outcomes of the event and the main contributions from the participants in January 2021!
