White Paper on Meaningful Youth Engagement

Based on open process, including virtual discussions and rounds of written inputs, the SDG7 Youth Constituency has developed and adopted a white paper on meaningful youth engagement. The goal of the document is to provide entities in the energy space with a set of guidelines and
good practices on how to carry out youth engagement in their events and processes, how to
effectively reach young people, and how to meet the needs of the young generation.

2021 IRENA Youth Forum

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) organised the second edition of the IRENA Youth Forum: The New Generation of Decision Makers at the margins of the IRENA Assembly on January 14. The event was held virtually, allowing youth from all over world to engage with discussions on the challenges and opportunities of this year’s theme: ‘Promoting an Inclusive and Just Energy Transition’. The SDG7 Youth Constituency supported IRENA in design and implementation of the event, including nomination of facilitators of the working groups as well as organisation of the Youth Blast, a preparatory session for the Youth Forum participants.

Vienna Energy Forum Youth & Gender Days

On January 12-13, UNIDO, in collaboration with the Vienna Energy Forum (VEF) partners, the Global Women Network for the Energy Transition and the SDG7 Youth Constituency, convened an expert dialogue. The panels featured specialists from governments, development cooperation agencies, donors, academia, the private sector and civil society. Experts and representatives discussed how to break the barriers and unlock the opportunities for women and youth.

Recognizing that the full and active engagement and leadership of women and youth is central to the achievement of the clean energy transition and the advancement of sustainable development, the partners call on organizations, governments, private sector, academia and civil society to take urgent action.
