Somali Green Peace Association (SOGPA) a national NGO was founded in July 2019 in Mogadishu, Somalia. The Association is led by young energetic educated people who have got the ambition of taking part the world programme solutions of climate change, Environmental and food security problems.

Widespread acute food insecurity and malnutrition persist in many parts of Somalia despite concerted efforts to reversing this trend. The projected acute food insecure population of 6.3 million Somalia (IPC 2 and above) represents a 36 percent increase compared to the figures for 2018 Gu but it is comparable to the estimates for 2017 Gu. Acute food insecurity considered as “living standards” consequences because of its direct effect on people’s ability to pursue their normal productive and social activities and meet their basic needs in an autonomous manner.

The food consumption gap and livelihood change (loss of livelihood assets and strategies) are some of the manifestation of acute food insecurity. Despite above COVID 19 has hit the country as well as the whole world. Some of the population have lost their livelihoods due to unemployment.

Objectives of The Project

  1. Access to Food and Safety Nets to the Affected 30,000 households in Mogadishu province.

  2. Protection

  3. Providing masks, gloves and disinfectants

  4. Public health awareness


Project Activities

  1. Improve households’ immediate access to food through provision of conditional and unconditional assistance depending on the severity of food insecurity phases, vulnerability and seasonality of the livelihoods.

  2. Protect and restore livelihoods, related food and income sources, through provision of seasonally appropriate livelihood inputs and technical support in rural and peri-urban settings.

  3. Support household and community resilience to shocks, through rehabilitation and/or restoration of productive assets, enhance livelihood strategies and disaster preparedness.

  4. Provision of mask, gloves, disinfectants and public health awareness education
