Build New Nigeria
Location: Nigeria (Ogbomoso, Oyo State)
Build New Nigeria Initiative was founded in 2016 with the aim to bridge the gaps between the children of the less privileged and the children of the rich to get access to quality education through Information and Communication Technology.
We have reached out to over 7,000 less privileged students in public schools in different states of the country. We have partnered with Mind the Gap Initiative, International Youth Math Challenge, and International Astronomy and Astrophysics Challenge.
In 2019, we mentored two students Adejumobi Peace and Alade Victor to win the First and Third Regional Award of Africa respectively (www.iaac.space/en/winners).
In an effort to combat the impacts of COVID 19 on education, as a result of schools lockdown, Build New Nigeria has organized online classes for senior students who are preparing for their external examinations. Also, we are currently training youth people on photography and cinematography so as to increase the employment rate after COVID 19.
Support
To make the less privileged have access to Information and Communication Technology, there is a need to set up an ICT HUB for practices. We are in need of about $2000 for the setup of the ICT HUB and equipment. Additional support is needed as we as an organization intend to make sure that less privileged students with good academic performance will be awarded a scholarship so that his/her education will not stop as a result of finances.
Other needs: Volunteers, Access to information
