Restructure Africa - COVID-19 Emergency Food Intervention Plan

Location: Nigeria (Lagos)

Nigeria continues to experience extreme poverty, with nearly 80 percent of its 190 million population living on less than $2 a day. The root of poverty lies in the deprivation that people face limited access to necessities such as food, healthcare, and sanitation, education, and assets.

In March 2020, we launched our Covid-19 Humanitarian Relief Response to support families in Lagos, Nigeria, that will be the hardest hit by the tough but necessary stay at home order of the Government.

Leveraging on the power of social media, we have supported 882 households with food supplies and sanitary items to last a week across ten communities in Lagos. The areas covered include Ebute Metta, Ikeja, Agege, Obalende, Ifako Ijaiye, Abule Egba, Sango Tedo, Ijora Badia, Oworonshoki, Bariga, and Shomolu.

Also, through our COVD-19 Emergency Food Intervention Fund, we have raised $5,161 in donations to support families with raw food materials and sanitary items in these times.

We built partnerships with logistics companies like such as Gokada & Kwik to reach communities that are not motorable.
