Youth Movement Against Poverty

Location: Bangladesh (Dhaka)

Youth Movement against Poverty: The name derived in 2012 from a group of young volunteers who started their journey as a community of active citizens with an aim to solving the problems of the local community like: education, poverty, alternative livelihood, medical support, child protection, peace etc. The basic goal is to help the community by youth action projects or community action projects.

For example: All 4 All, Fight Against Covid 19 , Eid for Orphans was the significant example of community action project of YMAP. YMAP also works for child protection to keep child protection rights intact. YMAP also works for the RMG sector workers about gender violence issues and creating trade unions in local RMG sectors.

In Bangladesh, especially during famous occasions like EId or Puzza or any pandemic situation, lives of those in rural areas become helpless due to the high margins of value of civil and human basic rights. YMAP tried to help the local rural urban community to support these low wage earners in this pandemic situation through volunteers yearly savings from pocket money.

This is an individual organization who doesn’t wait for the support all the time. The basic capital of this organization is volunteers and their courage for the community .YMAP has supported more than 35000 lives from rural to urban area whenever the citizens of Bangladesh needed support. YMAP has an aim to go beyond Bangladesh focusing on child protection law, climate change and climate tax along with peace from justice. Now a days YMAP has more than 100 volunteers who are currently saving their pocket money for future pandemics and occasions to support their community. YMAP is the name of some freedom fighters whose are actually fighting against social, economical and traditional dogma to achieve Sustainable Development Goals along with Bangladesh Government and United Nations.

The recent pandemic has showed us how vulnerable our economical supply chain and livelihood structures are in our society. When the Government implemented a lock down almost 1,00,000 transport workers of Bangladesh became jobless as they didn’t find any alternative livelihoods. Our contribution from "Social Media Crowd Funding " helped almost 15,000 transport workers families residing in Dhaka City along with medical kit support.
