UN@75 - People's & Youth Declaration
The UN@75 initiative will use the opportunity of the UN’s 75th Anniversary to inspire forward-looking dialogues in all regions of the world focused on addressing emerging risks and opportunities, and strengthening collective action to build the “future we want, the UN we need”. It is based on the premise that if we are to realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, we need to reinvigorate multilateralism; rebuild trust in institutions, and do more to engage stakeholders. Covid-19 is a stark reminder of the need for this. Our response will determine how fast the world recovers, and how well we handle other pressing and emerging challenges: from the climate crisis to growing inequality, rapid changes in technology to new forms of violence.
There are a number of ways you can take part:
Envisioning the next 25 Years
The UN@75 Initiative has put together a survey focusing on the next 25 years. Your responses to this survey will be used to put us in a better position to meet future challenges. With your engagement, we hope to contribute more for a better world in 2045 – when the UN will turn 100.
Help shape the draft of the People's Declaration and Program of Action
The next draft of the Interim People's Declaration and Program of Action awaits your comments and suggestions. There are quite a few changes from the last version. On behalf of the drafting team, thank you for providing such robust feedback. This is a work in progress, which will be improved upon over the coming weeks. The draft is already quite long and suggestions on items to consolidate are welcome.
This draft will periodically open and close for comments until April 19 in accordance with the timeline. Additionally, there is a Google Form for more extensive, section-by-section feedback, currently available in English. Other languages will be forthcoming.
