Youth constituency calls for respecting children and youth rights at briefing on Environment Emergencies by UNEP and UN-OCHA
ON September 8th, UNEP and UN Office on Coordination for Humanitarian Action (OCHA) organised a briefing on key environmental emergencies. This event offered the latest environmental analysis and assessment of three emergencies currently faced by the international community and UNEP’s response:
Environmental challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic
Environmental risks of the Beirut explosion
Oil spill in Mauritius from MV WAKASHIO
Representatives of Global Youth for Environment (UNEP Major Group for Children and Youth) participated at the briefing and called for the rights of children and young people to be respected in the UN response to these crises. They called for making youth groups equal partners in the implementation of the response.
