Are you an Ocean lover?
Are you an Ocean lover? Do you want to save the Ocean?
We are the YOUNGO International Youth Ocean’s Voice Working Group, who currently works with the aim of raising the profile of actions in oceanic regions within the considerations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, from where the unit to develop Solutions for mitigation and adaptation to climate change is essential.
We are already 250 members from 60 countries with the same vision, mission, and values. Our Vision is to be the benchmark for other international organizations formed by youth working for climate change focusing on the Ocean, connecting its leaders under the premise “one Planet, one Ocean, one Voice”. Our Mission is to offer support in the implementation of strategies that enable meaningful impacts, by means of international collaboration initiatives for/in favor of the Ocean’s Sustainability at the global/regional/local level.
Ocean’s Voice is a big family of students, biologists, young practitioners and people that cares so much about the problems that we have in our Ocean. Ocean’s Voice is divided into four different regional groups: Africa/Gulf of Guinea, America/Caribbean, Europe/Mediterranean and Asia/Pacific.
If we talk about the Ocean's Voice group of the Americas and Caribbean region we were divided into three different sub-regions: North America, South America and Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean. The group works together as a team in a lot of activities. Each member can choose which task group better represents them. For example, if you like to make an environmental crimes investigation and see the problems that these crimes can cost, so do you going to love to be part of the Research Task Group. We have three different ones: The Communication, Public Relations/Institutional Connections and Recruitment Task Groups.
Being part of this movement is very grateful because we can meet people from different countries sharing knowledge, experiences and motivate each other to be a better person every single day. After organizing ourselves in research, communication and public relations teams, our work in the past five months has been focused on a Spanish lagoon environmental catastrophe, as directly affecting the region of Murcia: we’ve been researching and gathering contacts from local authorities and institutions to involve in our campaign. It has been a great way to cooperate altogether to a work that raised our awareness about a scenario that can also affect our countries.
We act as a family and being respectful is the key to be part of the Oceans Voice Working Group. Every single member is important. Everyone can raise their own voice to help the ocean to be a healthy place for the next generations.
At the Ocean's voice we seek to give the voice that the Ocean urgently needs. WE NEED YOU! We are currently in our role designation stage and supporting the dissemination of our publications on social networks. We’ve recently also started recording a podcast series and introduced a recruitment task group to reach as many young people like you from all over the world. JOIN US——> https://linkfly.to/2020-2021
