Youth Reflect Peace
Location: Mozambique (Pemba,Cabo del Gado)
The Youth reflect peace initiative is based upon ensuring a more peaceful and healthier future, begins with engaging the next generation. In recognition of the crucial role youth play in creating and sustaining peaceful societies and promoting public health, in partnership with the African Union (AU)-iDove, the project is a youth-led, bottom-up approach to PVE and public health awareness through the Interfaith Dialogue Against Violent Extremism (iDOVE) that embeds public health sentiments to promote community resilience in the face of the double tragedy in form of the pandemic and the raging insurgency.
Through a peer-support digital platform, the program empowers youth participants to carry out innovative approaches for intergenerational dialogue and the prevention of violent extremism in their local communities.
To date, the project has successfully established ten youth-led peace committees as well as local health information points on raising awareness about the covid 19 pandemic.
Support
We plan to fundraise through the Go Fund me platform and also reaching out to philanthropists who are eager to help donate for our cause. The project budget is 25000 USD. We miss resources to expand the community focal platforms which are vital in the multiplication of the established peace committees. We are planning to fundraise it through continual engagement with relevant funding institutions and also local wellwishers.
Other needs: Volunteers, Space for online convenings (e.g. GoToMeeting)
