Our Motivations

IMG-20200317-WA0029 - ADVOCACY NETWORK.jpg

We setup this initiative after learning from the experiences of our brothers and sisters still living in Western counries that have been hit by COVID-19. We view Sierra Leone as a vulnerable country that needs to put into place measures agains COVID-19 before the country experiences death rates similair or more than Italy, America, and Spain. These concerns have motivated thos organzation to take the initiative in various places to raise awareness and sentisize people to take the COVID 19 and how to take the necessary precautions measures as announced by the government and the minister of health.
Our organizations has observed miseducation in several communities that confuse precautions against the disease as political and race related i.e. that COVID-19 only affects white people. The lack of information has motivated us to work with various communities where this information is prevailing and debunk them and try to counter such myths. We also want to educate them that covid-19 does not discriminate against race, using scientific evidence and not politics.

Challenges
Our organization is not financially strong and we cannot afford to visit critical areas that lack access to information. Transportation is another challenge. Transit is long, and getting home from these field visits is difficult. For community engagement with stakeholders, refreshments are also required.

Achievements
Received positive feedback from communities we've worked in. The idea of saying that Covid-19 is for white people has been eradicated in various communities we visited. They have learnt that covid19 is for human beings, not for a particular group of people

Scope of work
Freetown,Waterloo and Tombo; Public areas like lorry parks markets Ataya based and slums areas
