We are working with the Ministry of Health - National AIDS Control Program, Government of Pakistan for HIV/AIDS prevention among transgender people. The overall goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections and increase uptake of HIV preventive and treatment services. Till now we have registered approximately 100 plus HIV positive Transgender people in the Southern Punjab region of Pakistan which is also a deprived region of the country. These people are experiencing severe impacts on their livelihoods and losing their jobs, leaving them unable to support themselves with Nutritional Support because of a weak immune system. On several occasions when the distribution of basic food staples took place, many of them could not access it due to the stigma and discrimination attached to Transgenders.

As research makes clear, the COVID 19 crisis will disproportionately affect LGBTQ persons in many ways. They are more likely to have a pre-existing medical condition, which means they are more likely to get sick and take a longer time to recover. We are making sure that Transgender people living with HIV has enough stock of antiretroviral drugs that we are already doing with the support of Government but there is also a huge and urgent need of food, Nutrition and COVID 19 preventive things for HIV positive Transgender people as they are on more risk and ignorance can be life-threatening to them.

Support

We need USD 1000 to provide Food & Nutrition support to 100 transgender people living with HIV. We are planning to raise funds through National and International Platforms. Volunteers
