The Yobe Youth Forum, in collaboration with Nature conservation advocates for climate initiative, wishes to undertake a campaign to sensitize people across the 17 LGA’s of Yobe State on the dangers of COVID-19 and how to avoid the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus in our communities in Yobe State.

The young people lead a partnership with the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria, Nguru Chapter and embarked on a three day sensitization campaign across several wards in Nguru LGA of Yobe State to create awareness on the dangers of COVID-19 and measures to curb the spread of the virus. The sensitization campaign embarked by Yobe Youth Forum was a door to door campaign using Public announcement system calling on households in Nguru to maintain social distancing and adhere to advice by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), explaining on symptoms of the virus and ways to contact NCDC in the event of a suspected case.

We also embarked on a sanitation exercise across several wards in Nguru to encourage people to clean the streets and their houses and develop of culture of regularly washing their hands with water and disinfecting hand wash, which we distributed a small number to household in areas the sensitization took place.

As the premier youth-oriented Non-Governmental Organization in Yobe State, we believe it is our responsibility to point out to the people in the rural communities the dangers of COVID-19 and we hope to seek for partners to work together to expand our sensitization program from Nguru LGA to the other 16 LGA’s of Yobe State.
