CovidDoctor

Location: Nigeria (Ughelli)

Increasing the awareness to Covid-19, its characteristics and prevention, CovidDoctor is a team of doctors and medical students to savage this pandemic. Having gained momentum from newly graduated medical doctors and medical students, I’m glad to say that CovidDoctor is a youth-led initiative.

With the current increases in the COVID-19 pandemic, human-oriented service individuals like me have been put on a distress call. COVID-19 has been a nightmare and a death sentence for people in living in Ughelli and has raised public anxiety about their safety at home. Having returned home from school for more than a month now, I’m motivated to change the narratives, giving hope and restore sanity to the public heath system in a easy and inexpensive way.

So far, I have gained access to doctors and health workers willing to work on my platform "CovidDoctor".   CovidDoctor has educated people living in Ughelli about COVID-19 and now will use Apps to educate and give medical attention to people during this period of total lockdown. The project will involve doctors and health workers to achieve the aim. I don’t have partners, just volunteers. Subsequently, I hope to partner with student associations.

With its incessant increase in cases and death globally, CovidDoctor is a front-line fighter with the following activities.

  1. First hand information on Covid-19 from WHO and Nigeria federal government.

  2. Medical counseling and advice online.

  3. Directives on to to maintain good hygiene and proper hand washing.

Support

All of the challenges that my initiative is experiencing are related to funding. Having gone through several stages of the initiative progress, we need financial support of $1385 funds to make this initiative a reality in the following ways:

  1. $685 for launching and maintenance of CovidDoctor App for 3 months (June, July, August).

  2. $350 for advert, online campaign and awareness.

  3. $350 for subscription(for doctors and medical students using the platform).
