Alan Dean, a champion for the ocean and youth

We have taken and abused the lands and the ocean. We can rely on you young people to start reconnecting and pull us back onto the right track by collaborating on many levels and ensuring none of our voices are left unheard."

— Alan Dean

Alan Dean was the MD of Burning2Learn, an UK-based organisation that works closely with youth to build up their skills, attitudes, and life chances through intriguing and self-empowering learning modules. He believed in "motivating the future today by cultivating 'surfers' to ride the tsunami of change".

He met Sharmin Shara Mim, Ocean's Voice Asia/Pacific Regional Coordinator last year and they both worked together on "Blue and Green economy" to develop materials and host events at various places. He was invited to our Asia/Pacific Regional Webinar on March 21st, where he spoke about the Blue Economy and shared his interesting insights and perspective about it.

It is heartbreaking to know that he is no longer with us. His impact and legacy will forever go on and continue to inspire many.
