Covid-19 Emergency Relief items donation

Location: Nigeria (Abuja)

With the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic, the Nigerian governments have issued guidance for members of the community to practice social distancing, and a 14-days lockdown was initially effected in the country’s capital, FCT, and some other states of the country in an effort to flatten the curve and stem the spread of the viral infections across the populace.

Sadly, most of the families in the remote communities affected by this lockdown live less on $1 a day, many of these families live without a social safety net, and you can imagine what more could affect their already unstable situation more than this sudden lockdown.

As an NGO that is well committed to the well-being of the dwellers of the local communities, the foundation was compelled to develop an initiative, "Covid-19 Emergency Relief items Donations", an emergency outreach to help cushion the effect of this lock down. We did a door-to-door donations of food items, hand wash, Vitamins, hand sanitizers to 160 homes in 4 remote communities in a bid to help relieve the effect of the lockdown.

On the 15th of April, the government announced an extension of 14-days lockdown in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Consequently, this presents a challenge to this initiative; Sustainability, as it's only a matter of time before these families run out of food items that we donated to them coupled with the fact that we still haven't covered about one-quarter of the local communities in the nation's capital.

In a bid to overcome this challenge, we are embarking on a comprehensive outreach to cater for the social responsibility of the most vulnerable in the local communities during this economic stop-down. We intend to collaborate with a susbidiary of the federal government, NASSCO, to access the database of the most vulnerable in this communities. We have also initiated a partnership with a tech company to help design a database system that would enable us to keep track of these families and ensure the sustainability of this initiative.

Support

Our current budget for this initiative is #25,000,000. We are planning to crowdfund for this initiative on social media and also request donations from our donor. The latter is not promising as most of the donors were responsible for the first outreach, hence we need all the help we can get to make this initiative come to fruition

Other needs: Volunteers, Access to information, Publicity
