 To be able to slow the spread of COVID-19, we, Ninggawn Institute implement the following (2) urgent activities;

  1. Build 5 handwashing utilities in various townships.

  2. Distribute pamphlets, masks, and DVDs that describe the preventative practices and impact of COVID 19 in several townships.

The activities were conducted in 23 villages from 12 village-tracts in Hsien and Kutkai townships including IDP camps in Kutkai. To follow up on these initiatives, we aim to deliver more food resources and disinfectant materials to these communities.

Support

There are currently four activities that we are planning to do in northern Shan state

  1. Distributing Awareness Materials of Covid-19. We will print out awareness cartons, pamphlets, posters, and download the visual action songs, hold discussions, and share video clips of COVID-19. Then, we will distribute them quarantine camps, IDP camps, and remote areas of northern Shan state. In order to keep up with the rapid inflow of information, we plan to regularize this activity on a monthly basis.

  2. Distributing Prevention Materials of Covid-19. We will build up the basins and the utilities for washing hands at the community facility quarantine camps, IDP camps, the crowded public areas. Next, we will also contribute hypochlorite, hand compression sprayer, alcohol spray for washing hands, phones, and public areas.

  3. Delivering Awareness and Technique of Prevention of Covid-19. When we are distributing and sticking posters, pamphlets, and DVDs, we will also raise awareness about the importance of home lockdowns and social distancing. We also share information about how to properly disinfect oneself and their surroundings and how to use the equipment we provide. At least one volunteer nurse or doctor will be always with us when we are implementing the activities to the target areas.

  4. Providing Food Supplies.

As we, Ninggawn Institute is not a big organization and we don’t have any stable financial support. Currently, we are finding a way to make our organization stable and extend the activities which really meet the needs of the remote and venerable communities. With your help, we strongly believe that we can slow the spread of the disease commitment in our commuities.

Other Needs: Volunteers, Access to information, Space for online convenings (e.g. GoToMeeting), Networking with Local Communities.
